Chemical College Victoria

The Victoria branch of the Chemical College.

About the Chemical College in Victoria

The Chemical College represents members working within the very broad chemical engineering field.

Our members include chemical engineers, metallurgists, materials scientists, bioprocessing engineers, food technologists, water specialists and many other disciplines. The key tasks of the College include:

  • Maintain, develop and promote the body of knowledge broadly associated with chemical engineering.
  • Develop and audit accreditation standards for tertiary degrees and chartered status.
  • Provide expert advice for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Contribute towards national and international standards and policies relevant to the field.
  • Consult with Engineers Australia staff and members on matters related to Chemical Engineering.

The Joint Victorian Chemical Engineering Committee (JVCEC) organises seminars, presentations and plant visits that are intended to be of interest to the Chemical Engineering community in Victoria.

Related groups

The JVCEC co-sponsors events with the Mechanical group, the Food group and the Process Control group.

Awards and competitions

The JVCEC organises the assessment and awarding of the Pratt Prize. This prize goes to the design project judged to be the best from those submitted by the Victorian universities from their final year students.

The JVCEC is also working on developing an annual prize (to be known as the FreeHills prize). This prize will be for Innovation in Chemical Engineering.
